South Yorkshire Project – AST

In Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley the South Yorkshire Project is now running an AST scheme in each locality. The scheme previously known as Link has been running in Rotherham for quite some time. Due to its success we have since set up similar projects in Doncaster and Barnsley which now all fall under the South Yorkshire Project. The aim of the AST projects is to support individuals, families and couples who are unable to get a general needs tenancy due to arrears, ASB, or other support needs. Our support workers will work closely with the tenant/s to address budgeting issues, previous arrears, neighbour complaints, substance misuse, health and wellbeing to name a few, and signpost for support in other areas. When the tenant is deemed ready they will be supported to move on into their own independent accommodation. This could be Housing Association, Local Authority or a private rented tenancy. Clients will have weekly contact with their designated support worker and have access to an Out of Hours support line for any emergency tenancy / repair issues. The service is not time limited however we expect most clients to move on within 2 years.
