Things to know about legal claims

By law, repair issues must be reported to Target Housing first, giving us the opportunity to fix them.

Legal claims can be stressful, take a long time, and involve financial risk. For example:

  • You may lose some or all of any compensation to legal fees
  • You could be asked to pay costs yourself, even under “no win, no fee” agreements
  • You may need insurance to protect against large legal bills
  • It can be difficult or expensive to stop a claim once it has started, and you may still have to pay fees.

Making a complaint instead

If you are unhappy with how we have handled repairs, you can make a complaint. This is often quicker, simpler, and free to use.

  • Stage 1 complaints are responded to within 10 working days
  • Stage 2 complaints are responded to within 20 working days
  • There are no costs, and you may still be awarded compensation

You can complain by calling 03302020403

If you remain dissatisfied after we have responded, you can contact the Housing Ombudsman.
