Target Housing Hosts Energy Awareness Training at Elliot Court

April 13, 2026

The session was designed to equip attendees with the knowledge and confidence to better understand their energy usage, costs and how to manage their bills — an essential step for those preparing to move on to fully independent living.

Building Confidence Around Energy Use

During the training, participants were guided through the different types of energy meters, including how they work and what information they display. The Utilita Energy Hub team demonstrated exactly what to look for on a meter and which buttons to press to access key information such as kilowatt (kW) usage and energy consumption levels.

The hands-on approach allowed both staff and residents to ask questions and gain practical experience, helping to break down what can often feel like a complex and confusing topic.

Supporting Independent Living

For many residents at Elliot Court, understanding how to manage utilities is a vital life skill as they prepare for the next stage of their journey. The training provided clear, accessible guidance on how to monitor energy use and stay in control of household costs — helping to build independence and confidence.

Staff also benefited from the session, enabling them to better support residents with day-to-day energy management and provide ongoing guidance when needed.

Working Together for Better Outcomes

This partnership with Utilita highlights Target Housing’s continued commitment to providing more than just accommodation — offering practical support and life skills that empower individuals to thrive beyond their time in supported housing.

By delivering sessions like this, Target Housing ensures residents are better prepared for independent living, with the knowledge and tools they need to manage their homes successfully.
