I have been an employee at Target for one year. Initially, I applied for this position to support myself during the summer months before beginning my third year of university. However, I have chosen to remain with Target in order to continue making a significant impact. I do not perceive my work as merely a job, as I am passionate about my responsibilities, which involve making a difference in the lives of vulnerable adults and enhancing my resume through my commitment to a full-time position at Target.

During this year, I have taken on the responsibility of visiting Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) to conduct assessments aimed at identifying individuals who are prepared to engage in hard work, receive support, and improve their quality of life. I collaborate closely with probation officers and work in partnership with social care professionals.

On a daily basis, I engage with the homeless population in Sheffield, providing support to facilitate positive life changes and offering safer living alternatives.

In my role, I am part of the Sheffield project, which we proudly refer to as the “A Team.” The accomplishments we achieve surpass my initial expectations. I am compensated for collaborating with an exceptional group of individuals who are deeply committed to transforming lives, and the intrinsic rewards of this position far exceed any monetary value.

I am eager to develop a career with Target and take great pride in being associated with the organisation while working collaboratively with my team on the front lines. Our team is led by a manager who understands the importance of work-life balance and family commitments. I would not be able to maintain full-time employment and demonstrate my level of commitment without the flexibility that our Service Manager, consistently provides.

All personnel are encouraged to communicate any personal challenges they may experience, enabling my Service Manager to offer additional support. This approach proves to be highly effective, as it allows us to avoid suffering in silence and continue our work with confidence.

We might do the work most don’t feel comfortable carrying out; however, I adore my work and my team. I found Target by accident, but it’s now my career and the correct professional path for me to be wandering down. I never EVER dread coming into work, and for this, I am grateful. I Love my job.
