Ben is just 20 and has had to overcome levels of adversity that no one should have to face.
Ben had cancer in his Leg when he was just 9 years old and after a great deal of intensive and painful treatment to clear him of cancer he was left in constant severe pain in his left leg; after trying to deal with the constant pain Ben decided at 11 years old to have his leg amputated as the only way to relieve the pain. Since then, Ben has had a much better quality of life, he is very independent and active; played football for Man City Amputees for the last 6 years where the team Won the FA Cup, League Title and came 3rd in the Champions League. He also played for England Amputees and beat Scotland 11-0.
Ben passed his driving test in Dec 2022 and now has an adapted car massively increasing his independence and ability to get to his sporting commitments.
Ben has now decided to further his sporting career and successfully joined a Para Ice Hockey team starting at Sheffield Ice. He has recently joined the Sheffield mixed ability team SHEFFIELD STEELKINGS.
To enable Ben to further in his Ice Hockey career he needs more Equipment.
Target Housing has agreed to sponsor Ben and assisted with a donation to purchase some basic playing equipment but in order for Ben to achieve his goal of being able to play using his own equipment and not relying on borrowed equipment he needs further funding. The cost of a customised ice hockey sled is £1000 on its own.
