Target has been selected as a regional partner in a new national initiative to tackle homelessness.
The charity was chosen by the St Martin-in-the-Fields as one of 14 partners which will identify and share successful action to combat the root causes of homelessness.
The project will be led by Target CEO Shaun Needham and partnership officer Beki Tomlinson. It will operate across South Yorkshire and Hull. Local gatherings and events organised by Target will be announced shortly.
St Martin-in-the-Fields has a long history of supporting homeless and vulnerable people. Last year, the Radio 4 Christmas Appeal with St Martin-in-the-Fields raised £2.5m to support this work.
Mr Needham said: ‘We are delighted to have been chosen as a network partner after a competitive process. We aim to ensure the work being done by grassroots organisations in South Yorkshire and Hull is supported, shared and showcased so that other projects and people can benefit from the best local and national approaches to tackling the factors which make homelessness highly intransigent.’
Tim Bissett, Director of the St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity said: ‘We hope the network will develop into a useful, effective, compelling resource for frontline support workers, working with homeless and vulnerable people across the UK.’
