Staff from Target Housing recently joined partners and volunteers in Doncaster city centre for a community outreach morning supporting people experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges.
The event, organised by PFG, brought together a range of services to provide practical support in a welcoming and informal setting. Attendees were offered warm drinks, snacks and porridge, creating an opportunity for people to connect and access support in a safe environment.
Target Housing team members Nicola and Janet were on hand to speak with individuals about the support available, including housing options, ongoing support to help people find and maintain stable accommodation, and referrals into services.
As part of this ongoing work, Target Housing will now be present at Doncaster Market every Monday between 9:30am and 10:30am, providing a consistent space for people to access support. This will include completing referrals, offering advice and giving updates on housing applications.
This regular presence is particularly important for individuals who may not have access to a phone or the internet, ensuring they can stay informed and connected to the support they need.
The event also saw collaboration with a range of local organisations, including the NHS, who provided Hepatitis C testing, a Veterans Leader, St Leger Homes of Doncaster, and a dedicated team of volunteers.
By working in partnership and engaging directly with the community, Target Housing continues to support individuals to access the services, information and opportunities they need to move forward.
