Over the past 18 months, Cost of Living Navigator Lorraine Kiryluk has been providing vital support to individuals across services at Target Housing, helping people manage financial pressures and build a more stable future.
The role, funded through Charity Bank, is part of a three-year initiative designed to support people experiencing financial hardship by providing guidance around benefits, debt management and the wider challenges created by the rising cost of living.
Since starting the role, Lorraine has worked with individuals across a range of Target Housing services, supporting people to navigate complex financial situations. Her work has helped reinstate benefit claims, resolve issues with payments, and successfully address significant levels of debt.
In many cases, Lorraine has helped individuals clear thousands of pounds worth of debt; while ensuring they are receiving the financial support to which they are entitled.
More recently, Lorraine has introduced Job Club and Digital Inclusion drop-in sessions, designed to help people improve their digital skills, build confidence, and take steps towards employment.
These sessions have already helped two client’s secure work. One client has started a warehouse role with Tesco, while another has gained employment in a cleaning role and has also enrolled on a course at Rotherham College to continue developing their skills.
The success of these outcomes highlights the importance of providing personalised support that helps people overcome barriers, improve financial stability, and move towards greater independence.
With the project now halfway through its three-year term, Target Housing hopes to continue supporting many more people to navigate the cost-of-living crisis and build positive futures.
