Target Housing have been delivering music therapy, supported by Mama Africa Rotherham. The project began at the beginning of March for our service users in Rotherham. Individuals are given the opportunity to play drums, guitar and other instruments as a form of relaxation, as well as teaching them a new skill and giving them something productive to do with their time. This therapy can help with mental ill health, reducing isolation and combating boredom.
One service user who has been attending states that he loves drumming and that it relaxes him; he said that the sessions have given him purpose and something to look forward to each week.
Sessions are held on Tuesdays 2pm-4pm at Regent House, 50 Moorgate Street, Rotherham, S60 2EY
