Rotherham Housing First scheme run in partnership with South Yorkshire Housing and Target, has been praised in the local media!
The scheme launched at the beginning of April, has been highly successful in countries around the world such as Finland, Canada, France and the USA. Housing First works by giving homeless people homes straight away where the home is theirs for as long as they need it. It will be piloted for 12 months initially and provide homes across the borough. There is no fixed end date and no conditions for people receiving the accommodation, yet support is always offered and encouraged.
The Housing First scheme was commended in local news papers in its bid to end rough sleeping in the area.
