Frontline Networking Event Success!

November 15, 2017

On Friday 10th November 2017 Target and St Martins 5th Networking Event was held at the Unity Centre in Rotherham. Representatives from across South Yorkshire and the Humber were invited to attend the event, giving them the opportunity to network with other frontline workers from similar organisations, participate in workshops and hear talks and presentations from guest speakers.

Targets partnership and training officer Sirea Jabar spoke about the Frontline Network and the benefits it can bring to organisations. Sirea discussed how the Frontline Network exists to harness the ideas, energy and experience of those at the frontline working with homeless and vulnerably housed people.

Our first guest speaker, Jill Jones from RMBC joined us to discuss the Homeless Reduction Act and how the act would impact frontline workers. The content of the act was explored and Jill explained how Rotherham was preparing. Discussion was opened to attendees regarding the ways in which Rotherham could potentially prepare for the Homeless Reduction Act.

Chris Brill from Homeless Link was our second and last guest speaker of the day. Chris joined us to talk through Universal Credits. He outlined the aims of principles as well as the advantages and disadvantages of universal credits and how these would impact upon frontline workers working with those who are homeless and/ or vulnerably housed.

The event was a great success and we look forward to hosting the next one!
