Hull’s AST project (Assured Shorthold Tenancy) offers temporary supported housing to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Target leases properties from the private sector and housing associations ensuring all properties are furnished and meet HHSRS (national health and safety) standard. The property is then offered to Hull City Council’s homeless team and allocated to a family for up to two years.
Target encourages families to make positive decisions to improve their lives. The families referred to us have generally found it difficult to gain housing due to vulnerabilities such as a drug/alcohol addiction, domestic violence, child protection or mental health issues. We provide full support including a weekly visit from a housing officer, access to a life skills worker and low level maintenance.
We help to address and control debt, manage rent arrears, maintain a tenancy, reduce offending, find employment, and improve mental and physical health. When families are ready, Target will help them to move into local authority accommodation where they can live more independent lives.
We also signpost families to other partnership agencies where specialist support is required, such as help in combating issues with drugs or alcohol, employment and education.
We provide a service user led support planning process to achieve clients’ goals.
