Target staff fundraising challenge

Staff from Targets Doncaster office are leading the fight against dementia by taking part in the Snowden Midnight challenge on the 23rd June 2017 to raise money for the Alzheimer’s society.

Linsay Hurst, Kate Hine and Katie Gismondi completed the three peaks challenge last year and raised over £1500 and are hoping they can smash last years amazing efforts!

TASC receive excellent feeback!

The TASC service manager received a very positive email from an
Offender Manager in Sheffield last week outlining the great work that TASC staff carry out on a daily basis.

“[TASC] provide such a good service and its vital we get our clients accommodated and supported. I have been so impressed with how you have taken on and worked positively with some of the most difficult clients……..some of them would be in a much worse place by now if it was not for the excellent work TASC do”

In Tune with Myself – Music Therapy

Target Housing have been delivering music therapy, supported by Mama Africa Rotherham. The project began at the beginning of March for our service users in Rotherham. Individuals are given the opportunity to play drums, guitar and other instruments as a form of relaxation, as well as teaching them a new skill and giving them something productive to do with their time. This therapy can help with mental ill health, reducing isolation and combating boredom.

Young Minds Together Celebration Day

Target Housing have been supporting Mama Africa Rotherham (funded by the Rotherham Borough Council devolved budget) to deliver a project for young people in Rotherham for the past 3 months.

Young people have been attending to learn new skills and meet new people by taking part in activities such as cooking, dancing, music and games. The project also listened to the needs of the young people and catered to what they wanted to do.

Target Housing, Rotherham Council and St Martin in the Fields Launch New Scheme – Housing Becomes Homes

Local charity, Target Housing, Rotherham Council’s Homeless team and national charity: St Martin-in-the-Fields, have formed a partnership to equip tenants homes as they begin to rebuild their lives, following homelessness.

The scheme, which aims to help transform their bricks and mortar properties into homes, offers tenants free furniture and white goods, sourced from reputable suppliers.

Rotherham Food & Drink Show

Target Housing are the main sponsors for the Rotherham Food & Drink Show 2017. The event will run over 2 days in May, in Rotherham Town Centre.

Rotherham Children’s Festival

BBC Children in Need has awarded Target Housing £45,000 for a three year festival of activities for young people. The Together As One project will be launched later in the spring.

Target launches EU migrant housing advice service in Hull

Target Housing has been awarded £403,000 by the Big Lottery to develop a housing mediation and advice service for EU migrants in Hull.

Target, a registered charity which provides social housing and support to vulnerable people, will work with the statutory and voluntary sectors  to ensure that properties occupied by EU migrants are safe and comply with current legislation. It will also help to improve migrants’ understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities as tenants.

Target in New Drive to Reduce Homelessness

Target has been selected as a regional partner in a new national initiative to tackle homelessness.

The charity was chosen by the St Martin-in-the-Fields as one of 14 partners which will identify and share successful action to combat the root causes of homelessness.

The project will be led by Target CEO Shaun Needham and partnership officer Beki Tomlinson. It will operate across South Yorkshire and Hull. Local gatherings and events organised by Target will be announced shortly.
